The DEHS (Di-Ethyl-Hexyl Sebacate) filter system integrity test uses a non-soluble, colorless and odorless liquid suitable for producing stable aerosols. DEHS is a proven liquid for testing the integrity of filter systems in demanding cleanroom applications. The long lifetime of the droplets also allows the aerosol to be used for flow visualization. However, DEHS evaporates completely, a droplet with a diameter of 0.3 µm has a lifetime of 4 hours. The DEHS challenge test can be performed on final filters and on filters installed in air ducts or on air-carrying equipment. A maximum permissible leakage penetration value is derived from the filter classes used according to EN 1822-1 (H10 – H14 or U15 – U17).
